Help! Need a REAL vacation for birthday/anniversary

Joe and I have never left MI together. Every year we do the same thing, save and head to Mackinac Island for our anniversary on June 1 and my birthday on June 3, but with what we spend to do that we could have a pretty nice trip out of state. We have roughly $1200-$1600 to spend. I'm thinking either 05/30-06/04 or 05/31-06/05. I can't stay away a full week I get to home sick. Any ideas would help. We are not against driving or flying, and I could get a passport if need be...TIA

with that budget id choose a decent all inclusive in cancun fpr 4 nights.
look on expedia. im sure you can find a deal in may. perfect weather too.
