please help me solve a debate
about weather..now when the weather channel says, lets say, 20% showers, does that mean:
20% of the island is getting showers?
or
20% chance of showers?
i thought it was chance of showers.but my inlaws are saying it means only 20% of the island is getting showers..which i think is weird..because how the heck would we know which part of the island is getting the showers? TIA!!

actually i was very surprised to read somewhere that it means 20% of the island is getting showers. i always thought it meant 20% chance.
of course i could be completely wrong and dreamt the whole thing! i've been known to do that!

thats what i would like to know..there is no way...how could you possibly prepare for that..my inlaws are weird..and have no idea where they would get that from...but it has been bugging me..i have to tell them im right..LOL.

It means 20% chance of precipitation. On weather.com it even says "Chance precip", that doesn't mean that it is raining on 20% of the island.
