please help nervous nelly-
im 2 weeks away from my due date and ive been told that when my water breaks, i must go to the hospital immediately so i can be given antibiotics while in labor.
im flipping out thinking i might not realize when my water breaks (yes, i have a few ditsy friends that had this happen to them)
now, i know you might lose a mucus plug, you might have braxton hicks contractions and your water breaks, but can someone put those events in chronological order for me?
i know that must sound ridiculous but im so nervous...
and PS are we allowed to eat jarlsburg cheese? LOL

My water never broke and I had a totally different situation. Most of the girls I heard starting having contractions and some even had to have their water broken at the hospital.
From what I heard you'll know when it breaks. Follow your instincts and don't worry
It'll be ok
BTW... yes, you can have jarlsburg cheese.

I was induced so my water broke in the hospital. There was no mistaking what was happening. As long as the cheese is pasturized you should be ok!

Me too. I doubt you could mistake that feeling for anything else!

I don't know if there is an exact chronological order. My water never broke with DS, but I had lost my mucous plug over the course of a few weeks.
With DD, my water broke with a loud pop and I never lost my mucous plug before that.

Re: please help nervous nelly-
I went through this recently, so I can help. My waters broke at 2 am on Wednesday Morning (Tuesday night I ate a WHOLE pineapple...big mistake) my water went quite dramatically and believe you me, I knew it from the way the fluid felt, the temperature and the way it gushed out everytime I moved, not to mention the popping sound it made.
Anyway, went to the Hospital Wednesday at around 3 am, they monitored me until about 7 am, sent me home again to come back the Thursday morning for induction as I wasn't in labor. Where I am they give you antibiotics only 24 hours after your water breaks, they feel its only a risk of infection after that time. They gave me the first dose of antibiotics at arund 8 am, and another dose at 4 pm. I went down to delivery at 10 am to be induced, where they discovered that my kid was breech, so I had a C-section. My section wasn't until late at night (another story) but everything was fine and dandy, I had the baby almost 48 hours after my water broke and there was no infection.
Good luck! Its not so bad!

I was also very nervous my whole pregnancy. I NEVER relaxed. I had a complicated history and this was my first successful pregnancy out of 5..That said-I am mad at myself that I did that and didn't enjoy my pregnancy. You will be fine. Your baby will be fine. Rest and relax now
