We were discussing what we each thought was a generous gift and not so generous gift from a grandparent with means. Please answer the poll.

I voted for 200-300 but I didn't see the part about means. So I would say $500.

I would probably think in the $500 range. We didn't have a religious thing (I'm Jewish, DH is Catholic) so we had a big 1st bday party. I "think" my ILs gave $500 and my parents gave Ds 100 shares of Disney Stock.

Both my parents and IL's gave more then your poll.

And my parents opened a 529 plan for Andrew and contribute monthly.

Both sets of grandparents gave completely different amounts.

My parents gave much more than your poll. So, I answered for what my inlaws gave.

DD has 3 sets of grandparents and they all gave different amounts. One set was considerably more generous than the other two, but DD is their only grandchild and cash is the only gift they give (besides time time spent).
