Please help = Should I call the dr. tomorrow or is this normal? Also q for BF moms...
DS will be 12 wks on Wed. Since Fri, he has been VERY VERY fussy. He has been crying sooo much more than usual and is not able to be consoled when he is crying in the ways he usually is. He does still have his happy times though - which is weird. He is sleeping about the same. We have taken his temp every day since this started and his temp is fine. I can't tell if it is digestive (since he has been spitting up and gassy) or if something is wrong or if this is normal baby behavior? Should I call dr. or wait a few days?
Also for the BF moms - I always give him a bottle of BM once a day - about a week ago he stopped wanting the bottle and although he will eventually drink it it takes forever. Now i am wondering does this mean maybe he is not eating in general and it is not just the bottle? He still wants to nurse as often as usual and is nursing for same amount of time but maybe he is sucking less or eating less and my body has adjusted? How would I know if he is not eating as much?
TIA so much!

I could have written this exactly over the past week. (He is now 3 months) He hit his growth spurt and just didn't want the bottle. He wanted to cuddle, but would scream for apparently no reason too. Everything you describe he did too. I think it's normal for the 3 month growth spurt.

For your first question, it's probably just a fussy period. DS went through one for a few days, but I would just call the doctor. I found that I could ask advice from everyone in the world, but I wouldn't feel better until I spoke directly to the doctor.
The second question, I had the same problem. DS generally will not take a bottle from me. He just prefers the boob. But, he will take the bottle from DH or the nanny. Can you have DH or someone else give him the bottle and see if he takes it then?

Thank you!
Usually it is my DH or mom that gives him the bottle and he hasn't been taking it from them. I rarely give him bottles because if I'm here its easier just to nurse him.

Thank you! How long did this last for? Is he still acting like this? It's so frustrating isn't it when you don't know what's wrong and they seem so upset

Perhaps go up a size on the nipple of the bottle. I know at 3 months you can usually move up to a faster flow. DD seemed much happier once we moved up a size.

sometimes introducing a bottle will cause a baby to be fussy. The la leche league consultant i was working with told me about this. He might also have gas as well. I suggest giving him Mylicon drops after each feeding. This helped my son a lot.
