Please help with first bday party/bbq
I'm thinking of having a bbq for DS's first birthday. We've narrowed it down to 43 adults, 12 kids and 10 babies. How much do you think I should budget for? Any ideas on what I should do?
Our yard can accommodate that many people, we have tents, tables & chairs (we borrow from family & the local fire dept ). But I'm not sure if we should do it at a park? If we did it at home we would have it on a Saturday with a rain date on Sunday. Our house is nowhere near big enough to have everyone inside. I'm trying to keep costs down, not looking to spend crazy $$$$$ on this. Any ideas on food, entertainment, etc are welcome!

really? it's on jerusalem by duane reade? near the intersection of hicksville rd and jerusalem? you can buy stuff by the dozen which is great bc some people don't like certain things. phil's prices weren't too bad but i think sequa was better. and we are ordering the wings from wings over farmingdale. wings are great and so are the prices!!!!

Re: Please help with first bday party/bbq
I had my son's first birthday party at home last month. We had bbq from a local restaurant. I bought trays of mini-sliders (cheeseburgers, bbq brisket, and pulled pork) and ribs. My mom and I cooked the sides - salad, mac & cheese, baked beans, and corn bread.
I always like the combination of catering part and making part myself. I feel like its less stressful and keeps the costs down.
