Please Help With Introducing Cereal
Ok, so at ped. visit the other day, we were given a sheet with the schedule to start Taylor off.
It says add 4 tablespoons of formula to 2 tablespoons of cereal. He said to spoon feed her, but I thought you were supposed to be adding the rice cereal to the bottle.
Can I get some input and suggestions from the BTDT moms please???

You're not supposed to be adding cereal to their bottle unless they have a medical reason for it like reflux. Just an FYI I found when I first gave DD cereal as the ped recommended it was way to watery for her and she didn't like it. You just have to play with the combination of forumla to cereal to find out what your DC likes.

Re: Please Help With Introducing Cereal
Not a BTDT yet, but we are preparing to start DS in 2 weeks. SIL said her Ped didnt want her to feed DD cereal in the bottle, b/c she needed to learn how to eat from a spoon. Guess it makes sense.
FYI- SIL suggested to me that I feed DS half his bottle first, before trying to give him the cereal. So it doesn't get frustrated and not eat cereal.

Re: Please Help With Introducing Cereal
I have been giving some cereal and then some formula b/c I dont want her throat to get dry or anything. I guess its all trial and error (mostly error) and quite messy!!!

Re: Please Help With Introducing Cereal
You should never add cereal to a bottle. It's a choking hazard. Some do for medical reasons (reflux, etc.), but it's really not recommended.
