Please recommend a GOOD obgyn
Hi everyone, I'm new to this site I am looking for a new OBGYN I am currently going to oakdale OBGYN. I am hoping to find a practice were the staff is nice and the dr/s are even better. I just had my daughter 2 months ago and the absolute worst expierence with my doctor during delivery and I'm hoping for my next baby that won't happen again. Tia

Re: Please recommend a GOOD obgyn
I go to a midwife group in Islip Terrace on Sunrise called the Stony Brook Midwives. I switched to them when I got pregnant with my son in July of last year.

Re: Please recommend a GOOD obgyn
I also left Oakdale OBGYN after a bad experience (and have had several other friends leave as well after similar experiences). I LOVE SouthBay ObGYN in West Islip. You can wait a bit and a few of the receptionists are terrible but I have nothing but great things to say about the doctors. I saw Dr Jurak and Dr Lockhart mostly and they were awesome. I had some scares and they would get me right in. Very patient and reassuring. Dr Lester delivered for me and was great as well. The only one I wasn't a fan of was Dr Judge but I think he is a good doctor--just not my type of bedside manner.
Good luck!

I left South Bay during my lat pregnancy.
I now see Dr Antoniadis in West Islip and can't say enough good things. The 2 practices are like night and day.

Re: Please recommend a GOOD obgyn
I left South Bay as well to go to the midwives. The doctors were pretty good but I hated the wait time, the receptionists, never getting lab reports, the list goes on. When my first DS was 2 weeks old I had a small fever and my breasts were red and sore. I had heard of mastitis on here and in my nursing books so I called South Bay and told them I was pretty sure I had mastitis, gave them my symptoms and asked if I could come in. The receptionist told me that she had never heard of mastitis and that I was fine. A day later, it continued to get worse so I called again and a different receptionist said that she also had never heard of mastitis so I told her that it is real and to go ask a dr please so she put me on hold for a long time, comes back and said the dr never heard of mastitis. The next day I had a 104 fever and was hallucinating and we went to the ER at Good Sam. What do you know, I had mastitis. I had a follow up appt at South Bay after the ER and Dr. Lester asked why I went to the ER and never came in...
Let's see, what else... I was never told that I had a tilted uterus. Always complained of pain when BD, pad exams and using tampons, I was told I was exaggerating and that it wasn't possible to have pain during BD. Wasn't diagnosed with the tilted uterus until going to the midwives, she caught it during my first exam. Everything made sense after that.

I agree 100%! I used to to got South Bay when I had DD#1 and it wasn't a great experience bc it is a baby factory there -- I would wait in the waiting room for over an hour sometimes! The only doctor i liked was Judge too. Then, I switched to another doctor in Babylon briefly -- I totally forgot his name, lol, but his office was too small with only one doctor, and he refused to deliver at Southside. Then, I found Drs Berlin and Egner and hit the jackpot. Great overall experience there!

Dr. Berlin was the on-call doctor who saved my life during an emergency situation several months ago. He's wonderful!

I also switched drs after my 1st child. I went from dr pilliteri to dr antoniadis. Dr. A just did a laporoscopy on me and he actually held my hand before I got knocked out because I was very nervous. He figured out what was causing me so much pain after 1 visit and I went to my other dr like 5 times and he never even mentioned my diagnosis and wanted to do a major unnecessary surgery. I love dr. A and would 100% recommend him

HATED South Bay OBGYN - I had nothing but awful experiences with them. I really did like Dr. Lockhart but after dealing with their receptionists over and over and never getting anywhere about important test results and information I decided to leave. When I got all of my medical records there were tons of things in there that was never discussed with me and just signed off on. Definitely glad I switched. I"m seeing Dr. Sylvia Tufano in port Jefferson.. she's in with Dr. Erhart who I have heard wonderful things about as well. 631-331-1120

Dr. Berlin is the son of the doctor that delivered me! lol I'm assuming its the son bc I remember my mom telling me both the dad and son were obgyn's but dad was retired. Sorry for the random fact that didnt answer your question. I love my obgyn but he is in Garden City, which I'm assuming is too far , so I wont recommend.

This is why I think Dr A is the best Dr ever! He has gone above and beyond my expectations of a Dr. He never makes me feel like I am crazy when I ask him things or call at crazy hrs.
