Please recommend a good SMALL car seat
DH has pickup that has a back seat but its not big at all. While DD will never really be in there i need one for the times when he is home with her and I am not and they may need to go some where. I will also use this car seat for when DD stays with my parents.
So i am looking for a good reliable small car seat. I know the best thing to do is to test them out which I plan to do i just would like an idea of which ones to try.
If it helps currently we have the chicco keyfit 30 and that fits DH truck.
PS. i know this topic has been brought up before but the search feature is not bringing anythig up. So if they are any old threads you know off please feel free to bump it

the seat only goes up to 55lbs will i need to buy another one after she gets to that weight? or do i get a booster seat.
All this car seat stuff confuses me
For my car which we use everyday I got the Britax Martathon though i am thinking about exchanging it.
at her 6month apponiment she was 27inches long and 16.2 lbs if that helps in answering the question

We have 2 Roundabouts and a Marathon and based on the specs - there isn't much difference in size between the two seats overall...

Re: Please recommend a good SMALL car seat
Your DD appears to be on the average side of things. My middle DD--a pretty big kid even now--was over 17lbs at 4 months; now at 4 she's 40lbs. Her older sister was 38lbs at 5 years old.
I switched my older DD to a booster at a bit over 4.5 and plan the same for DD#2.
Sounds like you'll be fine!

Re: Please recommend a good SMALL car seat
Coccoro is a great small seat, specifically made for small cars.
Roundabout possibly you'll have to try it.
You have to get at least 80% of the base on the vehicle seat, so a lot will depend on the how the seat fits, you're going to have to try them out. BRU and BBB will let you take seats to the car.
Scenera, Evenflo Tribute 5 may work as well.
What kind of truck is it?
The only problem with the shorter shell seats is that you'll probably have to buy another seat by the time your child is 2 or 3 depending upon their height/weight so they can remain in a harness longer. But nearly all the smaller seats should get you RF to about 2.
FWIW, the newer Roundabout is the same shell as the newer Marathon, it just doesn't have the no rethread harness of the Marathon and has a lower weight limit, therefore sizewise they are identical. The old styles the Roundabout shell was much smaller than a classic Marathon was.

DH has 2011 Nissan Frontier King Cab (dont get me started on why he had to have the king and not the crew ) I already know that while DD is rear faced no one will be able to sit in the passenger seat (hence why she will rarely be in his car but i still need one just in case)
Also where does it say hieght limit on the convertibles I always see weight but never height?

Re: Please recommend a good SMALL car seat
Height is generally the seat is outgrown when there is 1" of less of hard shell above the head.

Re: Please recommend a good SMALL car seat
We use the Cosco Scenera in both DH and DS's cars. It is small, has good ratings and is cheap. Plus DD is just as comfortable in it as she is her Britax.
And it weighs like 4 pounds.

This is a great seat too, forgot about this one. We have this at my mom's in NY and use it when we visit but we just used it on our drive back from NY to FL over 20 hours and DD was so comfy, didn't complain once, slept well in it, easy to install, etc. Got it on amazon for really cheap, under $30 I think!

We have this in DHs car too. We also used it when we traveled to the Caribbean. Great car seat, light weight and inexpensive.

The Roundabout is good but the Diplomat is exactly the same and has true side impact so for ease of mind I got the Diplomate instead and love it.

Re: Please recommend a good SMALL car seat
I really don't think you need to worry about weight. DD is 4 and is 38lbs and DS is 5 and is 42lbs. I think my nieces are around 55lbs and they are 8 & 10.

The Diplomat is no longer manufactured by Britax, it was discontinued. The entire Britax convertible line was redesigned, and the Roundabout/Marathon/Boulevard/Advocate all share the same basic shell now.
