please recommend a handheld game device for an almost 5 yr old.
I wanted to get Roman a game device for Christmas I'm just not sure what's out there and what's appropriate for him. I'm looking for something to do books and games if that exists. TIA

Nintendo DSI
-has lots of fun games and educational ones.
Can grow with him.
Other than that, Im thinking the
Vtech V.Smile Cyber Pocket might be good.

The Ipod touch is so much better than the Nintendo DS and most of the games are free or really cheap.
My dd has had the touch for a year already and she's only 4. It's easy to operate too.
However since all of the kids she knows have Nintendo DS, she's been asking for one from Santa.
So I think we're going to buy her one for Xmas. but I totally prefer the touch.

I asked the same question for my almost 5 yr old on the parenting with school aged children board. Everyone seemed to think it was too young for a DS. DD has a Leapster that she still plays with so I'm just gonna leave her with that until next year I think.

After doing some research I think I'm going with the Leapster Explorer. I don't think the others mentioned are appropriate for DS at this point.
