Please recommend a kid friendly sofa fabric
DH and I will be purchasing new living room furniture soon and I would like some input of the type of fabric.
We decided we wanted to go with leather at first because in the last month, DS has spit up about 30 tiimes on it and the dog has added his fair share. and I feel like leather will be so much easier to clean and more sanitary (even though I think it feels a little cold).
Then I was warned about how easy leather scratches. I have a dog but hes only 9lbs.
I want this sofa to last a long time.
What fabric do you have or would you recommend?

We have microfiber which is supposed to be the next best thing to leather for cleaning. HOWEVER, it also shows water marks like there is no tomorrow. so we have drool marks, cup marks, everything. and while its easy to clean up you have to make sure you do the whole cushion as to not leave another water mark cleaning up the mess.
Our next sofa will be leather and yes they do scratch sometimes.

I have had a leather sofa for 7 years now... it was cheap when i bought it.
I have no dogs or cats (no scratches), but do have a messy kid.
I love it. i keep a throw banket on it so that takes care of the coolness in winter. It has had everything on it: poop, coffee, diaper cream, vomit, pee. It really doesn't stain & looks great. It's raspberry red in color, which may help.
The next sofa we get will be leather too.

I don't know what will work. We've had a white couch (slip cover) in our den for the longest time. With the kids, we keep a pet couch cover on it nearly all the time....and we don't have pets! It works well and I don't worry now.
