Please recommend a mover & general questions

We finally have our closing date! The 19th!

We are moving from Queens to New Paltz. I've never moved with a mover before...do we find someone here to bring us up, or from up there to come get us?

We currently live in a 1 bedroom apartment but we have a lot of big furniture....desks, couch, bed, bookcases, an enormous tv, dresser, and in my moms basement we've got a lot of furniture that we will probably want to bring up like coffee table, dining table, rugs, also all of our china and stuff from the wedding...

What is a general price range for movers and does anyone have one that they would like to recommend?

We are moving this weekend from an apartment in Nassau to a house in Suffolk, and we are using a moving company from Yonkers. I spoke with the secretary and gave her a list of things that needed to be moved (we don't have much furniture, mainly boxes and I do not need any furniture set up), they called me back a few days later and gave me a price quote and confirmed the date I wanted. My brother used them a few years ago (his friend either owns or manages the company), so I just went with them--I didn't shop around. Anyway, I will let you know how the move went.
