Please recommend an overnight getaway appropriate for 19 month old
Looking for a fun overnight or 2-3 day getaway suitable for a 19 month old. DC is still too young for amusement parks and don't know if the interest level is there yet for characters like Sesame Place. No more than three hour drive from LI please. Kid-friendly places like zoos and aquariums nearby a plus.
Thanks for the ideas!

DC is always good. Places for you to walk around and see and there's also the zoo. All the museums are free and lots of great restaurants too.

Philly is great! Love it and we go often! That please touch museum is awesome, love the waterfront and the aquarium is huge. Liked the zoo even more than the aquarium!
If you wanted something closer, you could do Norwalk CT. They have a very cute aquarium, and stepping stones touch museum. You could even check out Rye Playland for the amusement park factor and stay at a place with a pool. Bronx zoo is about 20 minutes away and can be part of your trip.
Brooklyn is a fun trip too. The transit museum and botanical gardens are awesome. A short train ride away is battery park with the pier (and a great bar on it), the sea glass carousel and the Statue of Liberty!
