It's Super Bowl Sunday evening.... I'd wait until tomorrow before I start poking people....  
I am a big fan of Side Impact Protection. That's why I got the Britax Boulevard. It's also one of the few seats that you can use the top tether when rear-facing.
Recaro has most, if not all, of their seats with Side Impact Protection. Not sure about the tether when rear-facing.
Britax has a smaller seat that has SIP as well.

I have the Britax Marathon in my car... Kristina loves it, and has NO issues falling asleep in it, where she gives me problems if she uses other seats.

I have a Britax Boulevard and a Gracco Comfortsport. I really like them both although it's harder to get him in and out of the Britax because of the winger headrest.

We have a Recaro and LOVE it!! I was going between that one and the britax Boulevard b.c I wanted side impact. I tried DD out in both and she hated the britax but loved the recaro it has great padding and looks very comfortable.
I don't think you can go wrong with either a britax or the recaro. There are only a select few seats with true side impact so that might be something you want to consider if it is important to you.

Ditto, Ditto and Ditto. I love the Britax & it is very easy to use & very comfy for DS.
