What is the age of your son? What is his weight?
Depending on this information a better recommendation for your situation can be made.

Re: Please recommend your booster seat for the car...
The 5 pt harness booster are definitely safer. The child cannot just move the seatbelt (shoulder belt) from in front of them like they can with a regular seatbelt booster. Also, the booster I have has a tether strap which a regular booster generally does not. In the event of an accident, God forbid the seatbelt fails, the 5 pt harness keeps the child in the seat and the tether keeps the seat in the car. I have the Safety 1st Apex 65 for my 6 1/2 year old. He's been in it since he was about 4 yrs old. He can sit in it till he is 65 lbs. Many boosters offer a 5 pt harness but only till 40 lbs then you have to use the seat belt exclusively. My DS is about 55 lbs now. This seat is usually $130-140 depending on where you buy it but if you go to albeebaby.com, they have one of the models on sale for $90. There are only a few boosters with 5 pt harnesses that work past 40 lbs. Britax, Recaro...the Britax is huge even for my minivan. I don't know much about the Recaro. I def recommend the seat I have. It's not as plush as a Britax but it works very well and gets very good reviews.
HTH
ETA: He can actually use the seat till 100 lbs. but the 5pt harness till 65. Not sure when the average boy is 100 lbs but I would think they would outgrow seats in general on height alone before then.

Which seat do you currently have DS in? I would keep him in that as long as possible. 4 years and 40 pounds is the minimum that the NHTSA suggests. You should really keep them in their seats as long as the seat permits. We are moving DS into a booster in a few weeks, on his 6th b-day. He's right at the height limit of his seat.
