i Chat Icon Port Washington, but everyone's version of affordable is different (Port was too much for DH and I but eventually I'd like to live there.)

wow - is 750K considered "affordable" in Nassau?

I would look in Port Washington! Here is an example of a house in that range:

Port Wash House

It needs a new kitchen but other than that it's really cute!

I was thinking the same thing, but I guess everybodys idea of "affordable" is obviously very different.

Not everywhere in Nassau, but on the North Shore, yes.

ETA: We would love to move to Port Washington, Sea Cliff, or Glen Head

Thanks all, I was on the knot boards last year and know how helpful all these boards can be! Great list and much appreciated!

Yeah, we don't love that price range but both work in NYC and work late so in order to stay in LI/Queens and not commute all day, we've accepted we'll be paying a little more. We use the PT. Washington line now so we're hoping to settle in that general area.

Thanks again!

Re: please recommend your northern nassau county town

port washington line is great! After that it gets a little tough commuting to NYC until you get to Syosset and then by me (just over the border) CSH.

You may want to look into OB schools, they are not bad, but not the same level as the surrounding districts

I am in manhasset - definitley look in Port Wash - it is a great commute. My husband works long hours and we find this commute to be fine. He had been living in syosset before we got married and the commute was miserable!

Re: please recommend your northern nassau county town

You may also want to check out Manhasset Hills. It's not as far north as some of the other towns, but the closest train station is New Hyde Park which is about 25-30 minues to Penn and there are always lot so trains going to and from Penn.
