Re: Please tell me how you manage to clip your toddlers toenails!!!
here's what i have done, and my 2 year old actually ASKS for it.
I make it a total treat and fun experience. I ask her if she wants a manicure and pedicure. At first, she would say no. So I would just clip my own nails, paint them, and make it seem like I was having fun. slowly she became interested. sometimes she wants to try to clip mine. I let her try (she cant really do it, but she thinks she does and says clip clip clip as she holds the clippers next to my nails.) Then she would hold her fingers out for me, and then her toes. One night when she was in her room she was calling out to me saying she needs something. (usually it's Lilah needs water, Lilah really hungry, Lilah need cereal, etc.) well, this one night she was standing there with her foot up in the air saying Lilah needs a pedicure. I clipped her toe nails (she was right--they needed to be cut.) then she went to bad happily. She told me again tonight she needs a pedicure and I told her I would give her one tomorrow. She even once told me I needed a pedicure when my polish was all chipped. It's really very cute and funny.

We used to have the same issue. Then one night I left the room in frustration. On the monitor I could hear my DH saying, "Hold it still so I can see...."
He was in the room letting DD hold a flashlight shining on her toes so he could cut them.
We've never had an issue since.

HAHAHAHA I was going to post on this topic today too!!!
DD is 11month old this week and I can't get her to keep her feet still now! I would LOVE to hear tricks!
She wears feetie pajamas at night so I can't cut her nails while she's sleeping :( maybe while she's napping.

Re: Please tell me how you manage to clip your toddlers toenails!!!
She wants to hold the cilipper and she opens it and says CLIP and makes likes she's doing them but I'm afraid she's going to actually clip her toes. So first I have to try to wrestle it away from her and then just keeps squirming her feet away from me.
I am honestly amazed at how strong she is or that I have not accidentally broken her feet/ankles trying to hold on to them!
ETA: DH is no help. I honestly cannot remember the last time I clipped Ann's nails so the other night after a bath, I was struggling with her, asked him to come in and help/distract and after more wrestling he was like "It's not like they're that long or anything" Yeah, okay, they're just growing in to her toes! LOL! I keep telling her she's going to be that guy with the curly nails in the Guinness Book of World Records

i have a DD sometimes i tell her that if she wants her nails painted we have to clip them first. she will not let my clip her baby finger or baby toe nails anymore though another one of her little quirks?

That's so funny!! Lily hates when I cut her little toe!! She'll sometimes let me cut the other toenails (not always) but it's always under the condition that I not touch the baby toe!! Kids are weird.
I have no advice on how to do it...besides bribery using lollypops.

I have always used the scissors, not the clipper. Maybe weird for others, but I feel like I have better control over the scissors.
I always do it in front of the TV. He sits next to me watching, I do one side, then I switch sides. when he was smaller, I would sit on the floor with him in my lap and do it while he watched.

Re: Please tell me how you manage to clip your toddlers toenails!!!
I was just thinking about this today!! I finally got DS to let me cut (with scissors) his fingernails. A mom on here used animal noises as she clipped each one of her child's nails. I tried it and it worked. Now, each fingernail has an animal noise as I clip.
Toenails, he fidgets, I think it tickles him. I tried bribary but it didn't work. I usually have to wait till they get long and are basically curving into his toes to cut them. He won't let me touch them otherwise.

Re: Please tell me how you manage to clip your toddlers toenails!!!
I just do it on the changing table, and I give him a toy from the small collection that I keep in the changing table drawers That way it's like a novel toy each time. I use them when he's really fussy about getting his diaper changed or when I have to clip his nails.

His toenails I do while he is standing on his changer or when he is in his highchair (he doesn't like to sit in there much anymore though).
His fingernails I do on my lap while watching Yo Gabba Gabba.

I sit on the floor with her in my lap .. cut .. and then let her use the dust buster to do the clean up. She loves being able to "help" like a big girl. So this works for me .. for now
