HorseAbility is a fantastic therapeutic riding program (for the disabled) in Melville. They are in the running to receive a $50,000 grand from the Pepsi Refresh project that they will use to build a MUCH needed riding arena for their program. You can vote once every day of April.

ETA -- I just want people to know that therapeutic riding REALLY is therapy. This is not just a fun activity for people with special needs. It is often life changing for those with special phsyical, emotional, and mental needs. It improves mobility, coordination, posture, muscle function, and often improves speech and cognitive ability as well.
Just one example (of the many, many ways therapeutic riding can help people) - A horse's three-dimensional gait helps those with physical difficulties simulate walking (and can help those with mobility issues eventually walk). If you do some Google searches for therapeutic riding or hippotherapy, you can learn a lot about it. While clients LOVE their therapeutic riding sessions, they are also getting a really valuable service in addition to having fun.

I voted and pushed them to 13 I think!!! Shared on FB too. DH is a horse fanatic since his childhood in Ireland and showed me a program about this type of therapy - I was blown away by the amazing work they do.

Funny, many of my barn friends have had links to Pepsi but I never bothered to click and see why. Thanks for putting HorseAbility in the subject line.
My trainer has done a lot of work with Horse Ability and was recognized by them a few years back.
