Pls. help regarding advantage / Frontline and FLEAS !!
ok, our shih tzu had fleas badly, so we went to the vet and he got a shot of antiobiotics and advantage and stuff to keep him from itching, he was good - EXCELLENT for 2 weeks and now he is back to biting, so bad that he doesn't even sleep !! IT is sooo annoying and he is distraut !
We have another app't Wednesday, that is the earliest I could get. Does anyone now what I can do or if I could put another dose of frontline on ??

I wouldn't put another dose on....too much might have a negative effect. Have you tried giving a flea bath?
When ours had it, we also vacuumed the floors very well a few times and bombed the house...

I think you have to attack the house and yard...sounds like the eggs had time to hatch and now your pet is reinfested.

May take a while to work. Do not apply more than one dose a month.
My vet allowed me to use Frontline and Revolution at once (2 weeks apart) since they work differently. Ask your vet about this.
What can you do? Get a flea comb and try to get the fleas off the dog (if you find any). This is what I do. I just found a flea on my doggie yesterday (havent seen one in 2 years), and used my flea comb and grabbed and drowned that sucker. My dog is also on Revolution so I am not worried anyway.
You take a little clear container (tupperware), put in water and dish washing detergent. When you swipe through the dog's fur, dip it in the water, swish it around and watch to see if a flea drops out. They will literally drop out of the comb into the water and be drowned! YAY!
That is why you use a clear container so you can see the flea fall out (suds will block your view on top of the water). So if you SEE fleas, you need to get a flea comb and get them off the doggie. Fleas tend to hang out by the butt, the belly and neck, though I always found my dogs fleas on his belly (see them walking!) and butt/tail area.

Try Giving your pup a bath using Dawn Dish Detergent and comb out the fleas with a flea comb while your pup is still in the bath. THe dawn should kill most of the fleas. You can also try a flea dip. You should bomb your house and your yard. But make sure you get your family and all animals out of the house first. Then vacum really good. We did this with one of our dogs and it worked great. ANd then we continued the use of frontline and have not had a problem in years

I would NOT combine a flea dip with flea meds without checking with the dr. Plus certain dogs/cats cannot get flea dips based on age, or they could be killed.

we have to do this...but we have kids...can it still be done??

It can still be done. You just have to make sure everyone is out of the house for a few hours while the bomb is going off. It will tell you on the back how long and then when you get home open all the windows and vacum everything. Also i would Bathe tiger first otherwise you will still have fleas jumping off him when you come back
