Plus-size Mommies...question for you
When did your pregnancy really start to show?
I've been heavy all my life, and this is my first pregnancy. I'm so afraid of just looking HUGE and not pregnant. I also carry most of my weight around the middle.
I used to work with a girl who was built similarly to me--and at 8 1/2 months pregnant, you couldn't actually tell she was pregnant...
I know this is a silly thing to be worrying about, especially when so many other things matter...but I'm hoping maybe someone can give me some insight.
Thank you!

Re: Plus-size Mommies...question for you
Well, I carry most of my weight on the bottom so I started showing slightly at 14 weeks and by 16 weeks, I was noticably pregnant because I carried ALL around and starting from up high.
Don't you worry-you will be a beautiful preggo!

Re: Plus-size Mommies...question for you
People who really know me told me I was showing around 3 months. Co-workers didn't notice until I told them at about 18-20 weeks. I was definitely showing after 20 weeks, especially since it was summertime and I had to start wearing maternity pants.

haha, me too. If you knew me you could probably tell at around 5 or 6 months but for me I don't think strangers could tell until 7 or 8 months. I'm big on top though so I think that makes a difference. My girls stuck out further than my belly until the 8th month.

Re: Plus-size Mommies...question for you
I'm a size 14-16 and carry most of my weight in my tummy. I carried high and I would say I was showing after 16 weeks and that it was obvious that any weight gain was b/c I was pregnant. I didn't gain a lot when I was pregnant but it was still obvious why I was a bit bigger. I had always joked that when I got pregnant I would have 2 tummies on top of each other, a preggo one and my usual one.

Re: Plus-size Mommies...question for you
I have to say that unless I was wearing maternity clothes that you couldn't tell I was pregnant till about 30 weeks or so. I had a stomach before I was pregnant....and my stomach changed in that it became hard but didn't pop out till later. I was lucky in that I didn't gain too much weight either. I didn't try that hard its just that I did cut out a lot of junk I ate before that wouldn't have been good for the baby. I gained 19 pounds. Almost 8 was the baby...the rest must have been fluids...amnotic, blood and water retention because a week after I had lost it all.
Enjoy your pregnancy. Im sure you will look beautiful!!!

Re: Plus-size Mommies...question for you
I was 204 when I got pg and you couldn't tell I was pg until probably the last month. People who knew I was pg started to say I looked pg around 7 1/2 months but it really wasn't until the last couple of weeks that I felt I looked pg. Otherwise I just thought I looked heavy.

Ah, maybe you can tell me where to get some nice fitting clothing. It is so hard to be sort of in between plus and regular size!!!!!!

Re: Plus-size Mommies...question for you
I was chubby - but not too big with Robbie - and I started to show around Christmas (just shy of 5 months). I gained a LOT of weight with Robbie and didn't lose all of it when I got pregnant with Noah. Most of the weight I gained with Robbie had been in my belly so I don't think I ever really looked 'unpregnant' after him. But my jiggly belly started to get hard and round with Noah at around 6 months.
ETA: Prior to getting pregnant I carried all my weight in my boobs, arms and thighs. Since having my kids, my stomach has joined the party.

Re: Plus-size Mommies...question for you
I started to show aroun the 5th month. Don't worry, you'll look preggo. I actually think I looked beautiful and for some reason I felt sexy. I didn't wear big clothes that drowned me. I embraced my curves.
