Puppy food question. Remember how I said my pup isn't eating a lot? Poss TMI
Oreo ate about 3/4 of what was in his dish this morning around 11. I checked his dih, he hasn't eaten anything since. I took him for a walk about 10 minutes ago. We use a harness, which he usually walks well with. He has also been doing ok w/ "heel", so he isn't tugging that much, but does every so often. Anyway, we were a few minutes into the walk when he started hacking. He was doing it only when we were walking, so I checked to make sure the harness wasn't too tight and he had plenty of room. All of a sudden he started heaving and a glob of whole (yet slightly expanded the way dog food gets when it's wet) kibble and foamy saliva came out! There had to be at least 7 to 8 pieces.
Ok, what's the deal? Whole kibble 6 hours after it's eaten? I wonder if he is swallowing it whole, isn't digesting properly or something. We use wellness puppy food. He had an issue w/ watery stools a few weeks back, which we took him to the vet for. The vet gave us medication, but could not find a cause. Now I am wondering if I should switch his food. I would wet his current kibble, but at the rate he eats, most of it will wind up in the garbage and that stuff isn't cheap.
Any ideas?

I would take him back to the vet and ask for an x-ray or sonogram. There may be some sort of blockage and that's what's causing his distress. I definitely would not let it go unattended at this point...

As you remember, Penny was having watery stool while on Wellness. Even with rice, it wasn't getting any better. Since we switched her, she is 100% better. Everyone kept telling me that they couldn't believe that Wellness was making her sick, since it is such a high quality food. I have her on Innova and she is doing great. Oreo might also being loosing some teeth. Penny hasn't been eating that good for the past two days either. We actually found a tooth the other day, and we also saw some blood marks on one of her toys. I would definitely try switching the food though. It can't hurt!! If it doesn't work, at least you will know it wasn't the food, and you can bring him back to the Vet.

You might want to switch Oreo's food amd see if that does the trick. My dog has been on Science Diet since he was a puppy and he likes it. He is not a big eater to begin with, but when he is hungry he eats it up. How is Oreo's stool? Did he have diarrhea or was it just the vomit episode? Hope he feels better soon!

I actually tried moistening his food w/ some canned food and water. Not only is he eating like a champ, but he seem to be feeling better as well. My dad had suggested I try moistening the food since he is missing some more teeth. His stools are fine, and have been for weeks. It just bugged me out seeing whole kibble vomited up 6 hrs later.
Thanks for all of the advice. If he runs into any more problems I will try switching the food to the one Alli06 recommended.
Thanks everyone!
