plz recommend your LOUD sound machine!
i have one for my older ds but it only has 5 volume settings and really isn't that loud. i live in queens and it's noisy!
i want one for my younger ds that is loud and stays on (not just a timer).

I got mine at Brookstone. It plays a bunch of noises and get be set very loud. We usually keep it on the white noise but they have car, dryer, hair dryer ect... totally worth the money.

We use a humidifier. It's an older model so it is pretty loud. Enough to drown out my husband getting ready for work and the noise of planes landing at Macarthur.
Maybe use a radio and tune it between stations to get white noise? You should be able to make it as loud as you need to.

ITA We have this one and love it! DS is 2 and 1/2 and still uses it!
There is a timer, but, you don't have to set it...it will just keep going!

We use the Homeedics Soundspa that also comes with a built in projector that projects cute images on the ceiling.
It has three sounds; heartbeat, ocean, and rainforest. DD prefers the ocean. It gets very loud if you'd like, and has an option for a timer but can run all night, which is what we do.
I got it at Bed Bath & Beyond. With our 20% off coupon, I think it came to like $18 or something. We're very happy with it.

I got my 2 at Bed bath and beyond. I think they are both "sound spas". I have them on the "waterfall" setting all night long as loud as they go.

We bought sounds from the womb from itunes and put it on my ipod and blast it on the ipod dock. Works like a charm!

We have this one. I got it becuase it had multiple sounds and was not too much $$...
Let me tell you its LOUD. DS just learned to turn it on and when he turns the knob all the way up I can hear it OUTSIDE!!!

ETA: I also like that there is a timer setting. WHen DH and I go to bed we check on DS and set the timer so it goes off. So its not on all night. But you can keep it on all night if you choose.

We have the same one... It sounds like a loud fan. We like it. You can hear it through the monitor, so we have white noise too  We ordered it off amazon and it was free shipping.
ETA: we chose this one because it stays on all night. There is no timer... DD wakes up sometimes when the white noise setting on her swing goes off.

I got the Homedics Sound Spa at my shower. It is amazing. DD still uses it today and I have even given the same as gifts. The ocean sound is super loud, it drowned out the fireworks on the 4th.
