Poinsettia Plants???

Ive googled poinsettia plants and if they are poisionous to dogs. Of course, some sites say yes and some say no.

Does anyone know this question. I have two plants, they are up on things where the dogs cant get them, but i dont want a leaf to fall off and them eating it. My doggies eat everything!!!!

TIA!!!!

YES, get rid of them!

With my first puppy growing up, we did not know/realize they were poisenous and my dog ate one-he was terribly sick...throwing up, my father had to stick his hand where the sun dont shine to pull it out-and the vet had to do some procedures cause they were stuck in his belly and wasnt passing them...What a disaster! the little guy (brandi) was fine a few days later, but we were very lucky!

Re: Poinsettia Plants???

This is interesting. I had always heard they were posionous - at least to cats for sure. But, according to a lot of sites, they aren't - it's a rumour. Hmmmm.

This is a link to the ASPCA website that lists many posiounous items and discusses the pointsettia. Guess they can cause stomach upset (so I'd try to keep it away from your dogs) but not death.

Re: Poinsettia Plants???

They are definitely poisonous. To the point that when Misty had her surgery last year the vet gave me a list of things to keep away from animals and poinsettias were near the top of the list.
