Polenta in a tube. Help!
I bought polenta in a tube from TJ's. I've never used pre-made polenta before - I always cook it up and have it smooth or chill it in a pan in the fridge and cut it into slices and do stuff like Italian nachos by baking the slices.
Is polenta in a tube firm like that? I can just go ahead and slice & bake it, yes? I know it says so but I want confirmation!
Does it explode when you cut it open, like Pillsbury biscuits? 'Cause that shit is scary.
Recipe ideas?
Here's a pic so ya'll know what I'm talking about.

Re: Polenta in a tube. Help!
I've never had it explode when I opened it..
I've only used it to slice and bake (or fry)...so you're all good there..
I always season with a bit of pesto or parmesean cheese.
Usually the parm when I cut them thin for crisps or chips... pesto on top w/cheese when I use them as a side or on salads. Or after I bake them, add a slice of fresh mozzarella and some sun dried tomatoes and a drizzle of balsamic..

I use that exact TJ's polenta brand all the time. It won't explode and it tastes great baked. I put some marinara sauce and cheese on top and bake for 20 mins at 350. Pair it with a side salad or other veggie and you have a nice meal !

Okay, so this has nothing to do with Polenta, but I found these at Target the other day and I was so excited.
I showed them to DH and said "LOOK! It's biscuits without the fear!!" He totally didn't appreciate it the way I did. Just a heads up though- these are frozen, not in the fridge.

Polenta in a tube. Help!
I just bought those too! I had such a hard time opening the damn tube. I ended up slicing it open with a knife. I baked it and put some cheese on top. Delicious!

Re: Polenta in a tube. Help!
I buy this all the time! Usually, I slice it into disks and fry it on both sides. My daughter just loves to eat it that way, no main course needed! However, it's really perfect as a side dish for a saucy main course. I have used it as a side dish for goulash, beef stroganoff, dried chicken with gravy, etc.
It's delicious! You can also fry it and put some chunky marinara sauce on top of disks to make a nice appetizer.
