Poll: After speaking with BIL this weekend, I feel worried for USA

How many of us have been charging gas at the pump?

He can't afford to gas up and has been charging it weekly, and not the type card that he pays off each week eitherChat Icon

Re: Poll: After speaking with BIL this weekend, I feel worried for USA

I pay for mine every week. My DH usually fills his tank up every 3 weeks (thank God) so he charges that but then I pay it off each month when I pay the credit card bill.

Re: Poll: After speaking with BIL this weekend, I feel worried for USA

I have a 5% cash back credit card for gas. So of course I charge it, and pay it off every month.

It's the only way to go IMO, much better than using a debit card.

Gas that's $4.20 a gallon is only $3.99 for me with my 5% cash back. That adds up!

We charge it to get the points on our Jet blue card so we can go home more often, but pay it off every month.

Also, the grocery store out here has their own chain of gas stations. So for evey 50 dollars you spend at the grocery store you get 10 cents off per gallon of gas. With the cost of food now, its adds up fairly fast and helps.

Debit, but if this keeps going the way it is, I may have to start putting it on a credit card.

I only ever use my debit card for buying gas, I allow for gas every month in my budget, and I make adjustments while the price has been going up (ie, I gave up Starbucks!)

We charge and then pay it off at the end of every month. The rewards make it worth it.

Re: Poll: After speaking with BIL this weekend, I feel worried for USA

wow... i never thought of this negative side effect to the soaring gas prices, because i never charge for gas. I use my debit card or cash. DH usually drives my car when he can to save on gas (my car is much more fuel efficient) and he takes the train to work.

that really stinks... because he is paying a lot more for the gas in the long run.

Two things I would never ever charge, and if I did I would know I'm in trouble...

gas and food
