POLL: Customized Plates on Vehicles
Do you have, or would you ever get, those vanity plates on your vehicle?
DH and I just ordered our new truck, and I'm toying with the idea...

I have a professional engineering license, so DH has been bugging me to get plates that say PE on them. I just can't do it, I don't know why. I'm not sure they are tacky, but they just aren't me.

We moved to Florida & DH played hockey & luvs the Islanders so I got one for the first time It says :New York Hockey.
DH asked what the plate # was going to be (they give u a temp while u wait for the other) he cringed when I told him I personalized it. Then I told him what it said & he liked it.
Now I want to do something New Yorkish for me 
(It is spelt differently on the plate~ didn't want to post the exact lettering~ ya never know)

I have a customized plate on the car, since I've customized the car, bring it to car shows,etc. The truck doesn't have special plates. It's much easier to remember custom plates, if you are asked what your plate # is. Sometimes hotels ask so they can give you a parking permit, etc.
It's just a way of expressing yourself. I would hate to have the exact same car as everyone else on the road. I like to be a little different. I don't see much difference between custom plates and bumper stickers, antenna balls, custom license plate frames, etc.

We have them on our Excursion: BIG RIGG
I ordered them, not my DH. I really wanted WYZ2MUV, but DH thought that wouldn't go over so well if we got pulled over for something.
I just told DH the other day that we could dump the vanity plates.

same here... when I was young I used to try to think of cool things to put on there. Now I don't care.

nah...i don't really like them.
i never understood getting your license on your car...for example DDS, etc. i don't see the point except to let everyone know you're a doctor?? maybe i should i put PhD on my plates...just to give people something to talk about

I wanted one so badly when I was younger, but my father wouldn't let me b/c he felt that someone could easily remember my plate and stalk me

the problem with the picture plates is that they can only accomodate 6 #s and/or letters, where as a standard NY plate will fit 8 #s and/or letters.
