POLL: Emote-icons...can they cause damage?

Do you think that some e-mote icons (specifically this one: Chat Icon ) can cause damage at times?

Do you feel that it's insulting at times when someone uses it with a direct response to a statement you make?

I think sometimes it's immature, and insulting.

But it's really not that big a deal

I don't know how many times I have seen arguments breakout over the improper use of Chat Icon

So yes, I think it can be considered insulting when used with a not so nice comment.

ETA: I am not a big fan of this one either... Chat Icon

Not if used properly, e.g. a MIL post.

Re: POLL: Emote-icons...can they cause damage?

Oh I definitely think that using Chat Icon is insulting sometimes... Hey sometimes even Chat Icon or Chat Icon can be construed as insulting in the context of a negative post...

I often use Chat Icon for sarcasm, but yes I do feel that it is mainly used to get a point across that you are frustrated or in disagreement with the topic/post, etc..

BUT I'm sure there are worse emote-icons on other chat boards though - I doubt if Ron would let us have them however Chat Icon

Nah. If you're using one of the smileys as an added insult, you've probably already expressed that emotion to them anyway.

Wasn't Ron supposed to add:
1) Choking icon
and
2) puking icon?

Re: POLL: Emote-icons...can they cause damage?

I think people are often sensitive about the use of an icon. I usually only use Chat Icon when I am not directing it at someone in particular, unless it is someone who "knows" me a little better.

Re: POLL: Emote-icons...can they cause damage?

It depends on how it's used. I really don't pay so much attention to Chat Icon. I pay attention to what they say along with that.
