POLL: How much to give for a confirmation?
My oldest nephew makes his confirmation Thursday and I'm not sure what an appropriate gift is. The things to keep in mind are: 1) he's 1 of 8 nieces and nephews so this will set a precedent I'll have to follow with the rest and 2) he's not one of my godchildren so theirs (2 of the 8) will be more.
I don't want to be cheap but I don't want to set a ridiculously high precendent either.
help

What about a $100 savings bond?? It will only cost you $50 and to them $100 savings bond is alot of $$

We thought about that. But, he's 14 so it'll mature when he's 21. And at 21, what's $100 gonna do? With inflation, probably a case of beer
ETS: I'm glad people think $50 is ok. I didn't want to give that and be cheap.

I'd do $50 too. I am careful about setting the precedant too and I have many years ahead of communions, confirmations and graduations.

I was going to say the savings bond (I usually do it for first birthdays) as well. But you make a good point about the inflation. $50 sounds good then.

Re: POLL: How much to give for a confirmation?
ETS - whoops, they had their communion, not their confirmation. That said, I would still give the $100 bond and depending on how close we were to them, a little gift.
Two of our 8 nieces and nephews have been confirmed - we gave each of them a $100 bond.
For our god-children, we'd probably give them a little gift to go with a bond.
I'm not sure about a precedent - I would hope that the parents aren't comparing notes.
With any gift, I would give only what you are comfortable with.
