POLL : Just curious, whats your opinion ???

OK so I REALLY dont like the idea of a planned c-section, I feel like a baby is born when he/she is ready, when GOd wants him/her to be born, when theyre done "cooking" , so with my 3rd C, they want me to schedule it.. VBAC ?

So the first due date they gave us at our first sono was August 3rd, which happens to be daddys bday! and he was like OMG NO WAYY Thats my BDAY !!! and at first it sounds so cool and cute...
So I went with that feeling, and thought, "hmm, if they want me to schedule this, might as well make it THAT DAY! if that was meant to be! (Even though they winded up changing the "due date" to the 6th)..

So now here we are 4wks away, and Im thinking, hey this baby should have his OWN bday Daddy doesnt have strong feelings either way. He's more than happy to share his bday, and he's in no way disapointed if we change the day...
Im a twin, so Ive shared my bday my whole life, but its different
I guess I would have been more excited if the baby happened to COME on daddy's bday, but I feel like scheduling it on that day, maybe he'll NOT want to share a bday his whole life... but then again, what boy WOULDNT want to share a bday with his idol ??

Im on the fence about it, I keep going back and forth, now im on the "his own day" side...

My first (John anthony) was born the day after our 2nd anniv, and that night I was in labor, I kept thinking, come on out of 365 days, get your own day kid !

Whats your opinion ?

My SIL had to have a scheduled C-Section back in November. The date they gave her was...my BIL, her husband's birthday.
So now my nephew and his dad share a birthday. My BIL loves it.

I share a birthday with my brother and I have a feeling Jack and his sister will share a birthday (my due date is the same as Jacks!), so I say go for it.

My uncle and cousin share a birthday and they both think it is the best thing. Our baby is due 2 days before my DH's birthday and I also think it would be cool to share the day.

I have the same b-day as my soon to be 15 year old sister...wasn't planned, but I wouldn't have had it any other way...it's cool!

And you'll always get that doubletake when you tell people...

I have the same birthday as my dad. It was great growing up, celebrating together. He tells me I was the best birthday gift he ever got. BUT, getting older, it really became sorta difficult, as I wanted to go out and celebrate with my friends and I felt guilty not spending our birthday together and always ended up spending it with him.

my only concern, since you will have 3 boys - do you think the other 2 will feel funny that only one of them gets to share the day with daddy??

You know that if I had to schedule a c/s for Lauren, we were thinking of doing it on May 9th, which happened to be Andrew's b-day. Everyone was like "NO", don't do it!! It turns out they ended up close enough, Lauren came on her own on the 6th.

I am so torn on this issue, I would probably schedule it for the day of daddy's b-day. why not? I think it would be cool!

ETA: I just voted and its dead even at 14-14, I guess we're no help

My son was born on my mom's and dad's birthday. I know it was the best birthday present I could have given my mom (my dad passed away a few years ago). I think she loves that he was born on her day.

In a way, I wish he came on another day so that he could have his own day. When his first birthday came, I felt like it should be special but I couldn't ignore my mom's birthday. So, we had a joint celebration on the day and a party for Jesse a few days later.

I think it's special to share the day with a loved. Sometimes you just have to work out the logistics of the celebrations.

One of my girlfriend's shared a birthday with her mom and her grandma. She loved it.

I vote for keeping them separate. I went into labor on my FIL's bday and I was hoping Emily would be born after midnight - I just wanted her to have her own birthday and celebration each year. That's just me though.

If it was another relative (like grandma, ILs), I'd say pick another birthday. Only because that means every birthday, you need to deal with what they want. Since it's your husband father, I'd opt for the same birthday. Since they're so close, you'd probably opt for a combined party anyway.

Sharing a birthday isn't so bad but just prepare your kid is going to sound schizophrenic as he refers to his birthday as "our birthday".

Thanks again for all your stories. Another thing I thought of, both of my boys share a bday with someone in the family
John Anthony was born on the bday of one of my cousins (who we joke around that is/always was this clumsy troublemaker (as in rambunctious and always getting hurt) with a big heart )
and Nicholas was born on bedda26 (one of my closest friends on earth ) 's husbands birthday, who's the funniest and coolest guy EVER so I guess it goes with the flow that they each share a bday with someone, just this one will share it with their superhero of all time
and as far as the others being jealous, well John Anthony has daddy's name (John), and well Nicholas... has mommy's beautiful looks and dimples that we still dont know where they came from

I just feel so "responsible" making this type of decision... Actually Giovanna, where are ya, I know she always LOVED sharing her bday with her nonna all her life.... it was always a special time when the cakes came out and they wished eachother a happy bday (God rest her sweet sould )
and Barbara like you also said about being a twin, we're so used to saying "our bday"....
