"Pool party" for 1st birthday?
We are trying to decide where to have DD's first birthday. My BIL reeeally wants us to have it at his house (it's huge and has a gorgeous yard with in-ground pool). The party will be 6/3. My concerns are:
Will it be warm enough in early June for swimming?
His pool isn't baby-proof (ie: gated in) so those who come with children will really have to be on top of them.
Thoughts?
TIA!

I am not sure if it would be warm enough, and honestly I would be a little afraid of having a pool party at such a young age.
One reason being, while you are running around and doing things, is someone going to 100% watch your child? I don't know I am paranoid when it comes to pools...also I think I would want to hire a lifeguard or something.

I would not be comfortable with that since the pool is not gated. JMO
As a parent, I would be worried a bout my DD and not like that I need to be on top of her like crazy...

i think its a fun idea..
but the safety issue is why i wouldn't do it. especially if there are a lot of kids.
it might make all the parents on edge , and not enjoy themselves as much

I don't think it will be warm enough for young kids to swim - and they are going to want to!
It's also going to be difficult keeping them away, I have a hard time corraling my 15 month old the 5 minutes we wait for his swimming lesson!

Re: "Pool party" for 1st birthday?
Thanks for the quick replies! I think he has one of those electric covers for the pool. I guess it'll be best if we don't even have the pool open at all for the party.
I know he will be very offended if we don't have it there (he is her Godfather and 100% obsessed with her ), but I want to be sure all our guests are comfortable.
ETS: He already offered to hire a certified lifeguard but I think maybe just have the pool closed. Right?

If the cover was on I'd be more comfortable with the idea.
