poop issues...

so my 7.5 month old has always been constipated....you name it i have tried it, fruits, water, juices, eliminating bananans and rice. i have been doing glycerine supasitories (sp?) but try not to do it too often, i have tried swichign formula, but ds only takes similac advance...so pedi suggested giving a couple drops of senna little tummies to morning bottle, it definately helps loosen his poop, but am worried that this will become a habit, so i have stopped and again he poops tiny pellets about 2 times a day with 15 mins of straining, pushing and turning red. I don't know what to do anymore, i don't understand why his digestive system is so slow???.

just want to hear what others have done with similar problems, i feel like i have tired everythignChat Icon

Re: poop issues...

My DS has had constipation issues from day 1 as well. I BF and supplement with formula, we had to switch to Similac Isomil and I have removed all dairy from my diet - this has helped ALOT but there are still times when he doesn't go for two or three days.

When he needs a little help I give him a 4 oz bottle of boiled water with 4 teaspoons of dark brown sugar. He'll get one a day and usually goes within 24 hours.

Re: poop issues...

my DS has been exactly like this....my GI suggested milk of magnesia. He has been on different amounts since about 5 months. We actually just stopped giving it to him 2 weeks ago. Some kids just need time to figure everything out and for their system to adjust. I think we started with 3ml 2x a day. Call your DR and ask.
I give him the cherry flavored and he loves it!
