Poop question...5 mos. old?
What should the consistency of their poop be at this age? My dd is breastfed and has been eating a couple of teaspoons of cereal and veggies for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Her poop is very thick and I am wondering if she is constipated. Thanks!

Once I started giving DD cereal and baby food her poop started to thicken up a bit. She is BF as well so it was a welcome because BF poops can be awfully messy!

Re: Poop question...5 mos. old?
I was BFing at that age too and once I started introducing solids he started getting constipated. If it's just thick it's okay, but if she's straining all day or if it comes out looking like a big tootsie roll then it's constipation. What kind of cereal are you giving? Rice is constipating so you might want to switch to barley or oatmeal. If she is constipated you can try giving her a few ounces of water. That's the only thing that works for Brendan.
