Poop! WAAYYY TMI!! With a little update
Ok, I know the vitamin is good for baby but it's making mommy miserable. I can't poop! My whole life I've never had a problem. Now I feel like my entire abdomen is filled with these little rocks that pop out. It's awful and it's painful. Prune juice makes me gag. I can't drink it.
Can I take a senakot? Anything!?!
**UPDATE** Called my doc and she said one little cup of Citrate of Magnesia and I'd be good! Well all it took were 2 sips and I'm cured!!!!!
I feel SOOO much better.. I think I'll start taking softners with my vitamin..

Re: Poop! WAAYYY TMI!!
Try increasing your fiber -- breakfast cereal is one of the easiest ways.

Re: Poop! WAAYYY TMI!!
my doctor was against anything artifical.
Every night before bed I either have a 1/4 cup of prunes or a Fiber One bar. The Fiber One bars are actually pretty tasty and have 8 or 9 grams of fiber in them.
Kashi cereal also has a ton of fiber in it.

My doctor said to increase fiber intake. Check with your OB

Increase your fiber and water. Maybe your doctor can switch you to one with a stool softener. Mine has a stool softener and it helps..

I felt the sameway-its horrible! but like the others said, increase your fiber and water intake. Also, I take collace which is a stool softener-it helps a lot! Feel better!

Re: Poop! WAAYYY TMI!!
the same thing happened to me and i switched to a vitamin with no iron - i was never anemic so it wasn't a problem. increasing fiber intake also helps, as does colace. i found that overall the constipation got better in the second tri, and then came back with a vengeance in the third...

Try Fibersure or something like that. ask your doctor first, but mine said anything made by Metamucil was good. It moves things along.

I have the same problem. I take Colace along with my vitamin every night and it works great.

Colace and increase your water. Colace won't make you go but it will "help". It's a softener.

Re: Poop! WAAYYY TMI!!
I took Fiber Choice pills. I would chew 2 with breakfast and drink lots of water. I had no problem pooping (and I had to take iron pills and still had no problem pooping)

Re: Poop! WAAYYY TMI!!
maybe see if your OB can switch your prenatal. Some of the vitamins come with stool softeners in them. Good Luck!

Re: Poop! WAAYYY TMI!!
Ohhh, this has to be the most miserable thing that happened to me during my 1st trimester. The exhaustion, MS, weird smells, and food aversions were bad, but I could deal with those. But the constipation was something nasty! It did go away (for the most part) for me in the 2nd and so far, in the 3rd trimester.
Ask your doctor if you can take Metamucil--it worked wonders for me. Some girls on here have used Colace also, though I never tried it. I was eating high fiber cereals and oatmeal every day, plus fruit and dried fruit, and that did nothing for me.
The other things my doctor recommended which may have helped were drinking lots of water and getting some exercise. The Metamucil cleared it up, but then I think these things helped keep me regular.
Good luck! I know how miserable this is.
