Where all my poop-fearing gals? (Cuz nothing is too TMI for a Monday morning!)
Last night I was talking to some lady friends at the super bowl party, and one woman said she was so afraid to push with her daughter that they had to use the vacuum... And the reaso? She was afraid of pooping on the table!!!!
and then another woman confessed as well....
See - that is my biggest fear - I have a lot of hangups about making #2 in public places at all - or where anyone can hear or know what I'm doing.... DH makes fun of me all the time because he says I am going to freak out when giving birth....
So - who else is with me?
What are you going to do about getting over it?
Help!!!!

Did you read Belly Laughs?? She is hysterical about this....
And that they get out of there before anyone notices. Imagine having that job?

Honestly? I don't gve a crap.... (pun intended)
Really tho, I won't make myself crazy about this - it happens all the time, the Drs. and nurses are used to it. So whatever will be, will be....

My gf was sooo scared of this too! She said it didn't happen to her, but at that point of giving birth and being in pain, if it did- she didn't care.
It's a very scary thought now I think I would just die of embarrassment! To make myself feel better I say "eh- it's nothing they haven't seen before"

Re: Where all my poop-fearing gals? (Cuz nothing is too TMI for a Monday morning!)
A very good family friend of mine is a labor/delivery nurse and we actually had a converstaion about this the other night and she told me... "If you poop on the table, I know you're pushing correctly" and she said that it's not like she hasn't seen it a thousand times before, so they don't even think twice about it.
I personally have surrendered myself up to anything and everything that can happen while I'm in labor.
Seriously, is pooping on the table really the worst that can happen??
These people have seen it ALL!

My sister is a L&D nurse. She says that, as long as you have a few hours of labor before pushing, most women usually have been to the bathroom before the pushing starts, and since you can't eat/drink really, there shouldn't be much in your system when it comes time to push. Yes, it does still happen, but she says it's not as common as we fear!

Re: Where all my poop-fearing gals? (Cuz nothing is too TMI for a Monday morning!)
This was my biggest fear...but every single mother I know has told me that you just don't think about it during labor and there is nothing you can do about it. I am not going to prolong my labor by NOT pushing because I am afraid...DH is fully prepared from the guys at work telling him all the horrors...so I am pretty much over it. It's gross, but so is everything else that happens during labor!

I was petrified of this. Fortunately for me, I was induced both times and had an enema and didn't have to worry about it.

Am in total denial? I had no clue it could happen during birth.
What else should I know?

LOL I was afraid of that too. When I was 6 cm, and they were taking me into delivery, I made them let me poop first!

Yeah, my two best friends and I found this out when the first of our group was pregnant -- we were in STUN! It was like finding out the Earth was really flat!!!! Horrified! But it does make sense, so why didn't we realize it before?

Re: Where all my poop-fearing gals? (Cuz nothing is too TMI for a Monday morning!)
My sister pooped herself as I was standing RIGHT THERE WATCHING
She didn't notice until I pointed it out as they were sewing her up...she got over it because so much was going on, it didn't matter. My sister had an epidural and actually farted in the nurses face as they were checking her.....

Yes, and even with a short, 4-hour labor, I got all the pooping out of the way at home. [also the vomiting] You have a great chance of getting it all done at home the longer you stay at home before going to the hospital!

I was terrified of this also with DS. After being in labor for 20 hours, all modesty went out the door and I just wanted the kid out. The first time it happened I apologized to the nurse, she was like please no need to apologize. They cleaned it up within a minute of it happening.

Re: Where all my poop-fearing gals? (Cuz nothing is too TMI for a Monday morning!)
I already told DH he is to stay up by my head the whole time regardless.
And I don't care what the doctors and nurses see.
So, while it's not ideal, it's not a big issue on my mind!

You will poop, you may vomit...really it's your body getting things out of the way [if you get it over with BEFORE pushing].
You can also be "too far gone" to get an epidural [happened to me].
You can get the broken blood vessels in yoru face from pushing [ie-like when you puke too much from being drunk].
all sorts of stuff can happen...but honestly, you don't give a rat's a$$.

I honestly have no reservations about this...I mean you're giving birth for crying out loud...if it happens it happens...now if someone gets shot with it accidentally then thats another story

I dont want to obviously but if it happens, it happens. As long as it doesnt happen at the same time the baby comes out. That freaks me out. TMI
