Poor kitty
DH and I feed a few neighborhood strays. Our favorite (the friendliest one) showed up with an injured leg a few weeks ago. When we saw her today, she was in awful shape and couldn't put any weight on it at all. We brought her to the vet tonight and they had to put her to sleep. I'm glad she's no longer in pain but can't help feeling so sad

So sad. But you were her angel and helped her in her final moments.

Re: Poor kitty
Oh The kitty came home to you bc she knew you were her friends. She was very lucky that you cared about her and helped her find peace.

Re: Poor kitty
Thanks, ladies. I do believe she came to us for help....she usually lurks at a little bit of a distance waiting for us to feed her but that day she was literally sitting right in front of our door on the stoop. As if she was asking for help. It's sad not seeing her little face when we go out in the yard, especially since my 16 month old DS LOVED her and still goes out looking for her expectantly but like my DH said, at least she got to pass with dignity and not in pain somewhere outside.
I have to say though, the experience DID leave me a little bitter at how FEW resources are available for stray cats! We had called around to so many different vets/shelters and none of them were willing to help us out.
