Poor water pressure...what can we do?
In our bathroom upstairs that we just redid, the cold water pressure is awesome, but as soon as you turn it to be hot, it is so weak. In the shower, I can deal with it, but in the sink, it's not even a full stream of water coming out It takes a ridiculous amount of time to fill the tub a couple of inches to even bathe my daughter. Is there something we can do about this or is this a big issue???

Re: Poor water pressure...what can we do?
in general we always had poor water pressure in our house. Hot or cold. We had the town come and check out the main into our house..which was fine. However, they did take a look at our line and saw that we had a "regulator" on our pipes which regulates the flow and that we needed to change it to allow more water through. A plumber came and did it for like a hundred bucks or something. Also, whenever we change the water filter in the basement we get better pressure. Not sure why.
However, since yours is only hot water I'd have to assume maybe it is something from your hot water heater or whatever heats your water out to the rest of the house. But you're saying you don't get this problem to any of the other sinks (kitchen for example)? Do you know anyone who does plumbing? Perhaps they can check it out. I'm not very handy myself but just know that we had this issue once.

CAll SCWA - they will come out and do a test to see what the pressure is and if there is a problem - we did this and they were very helpful

Re: Poor water pressure...what can we do?
Thanks, girls. Yeah, I'm thinking that there's an original pipe running to the upstairs bathroom that might be clogged with sediment or something. We changed all the pipes up in the bathroom, but not the ones running from the hot water heater, so I guess we'll end up having to do that. I'm going to flush the heater first and see if that works. Ugg. It's JUST that room in the house. The kitchen and the bathroom downstairs and the hose outside get great water pressure whether hot or cold. Pain in the butt!

How hot is the water? If you can get the water to come out hotter, you can use more cold water which would increase the total pressure.
You might need to have your pipes cleaned. There is a company called "Hot Water Plus" that specializes in flushing out rust and sediment from your pipes. They are in Long Island and I have used them before.
Service isn't that expensive either.

He had to buy a pump to enhance our water preasure. It was a couple of hundred bucks and my DH installed it

Sounds good. Let me know if they come out and it helps.
When I bought my house our hot water was very mediocre. It never got REALLY hot. Apparently there was a ton of rust in the furnace and pipes.
When they flushed the pipes out, all the waste came out through the tub faucet.
You wouldn't believe how much gunk came out. It was nasty. After they finished, my hot water was HOT. Really too hot because I find that I burn myself occasionally.
I'll probably have them come back in a few more years for a re-clean (once I start to notice my hot water decreasing).
