Portable Air Conditioners
Do you have one? Do they work as well as in-window a/c's? Also, how does the water get out? Do you have to change a tray all the time like with a dehumidifier?

We have one.
I think it works as well as a window one.
We don't have one with a water tray though - we have the vent going out a window (not the right size to have a regular ac).

Same here. We had one in our other home (bonus room above the garage). It was the same type, vent going out the window. We got ours at HomeDepot, they aren't cheap. Def. works well.

Re: Portable Air Conditioners
We have one, too. DS's windows are a weird size, so we couldn't get a standard window mounted one that also had the temp control (the really small ones just have 1-10 for the settings, not the digital temp). Ours has a little pump that pumps the water out of a small reservoir, through a small hose that sits inside the air vent hose. No dumping of the water. That was a major selling point for me. I didn't want to have to dump the reservoir, or have it turn off when the tank got full.
