Portion Sizes for Kids
Let's say I have a recipe with a portion size for 4 adults. How many kids (ages 3-4) would that feed?
Would you say 8 kids?
Thanks!
ETA:
I'm doing a veggie pasta side salad and baked and breaded chicken with mozzarella. I have 20 children to feed + 5 adults. I was thinking a cup of pasta salad and I was thinking half a chicken breast for each kid. Does that sound right?
I have to do the shopping tomorrow, so I'm not sure how much chicken to purchase. I have my pasta side salad portions down I think.
As you can see, I have no experience feeding kids. It's for a kindergarten in the area (no allergies-- I checked).

Re: Portion Sizes for Kids
I agree, depends on the kids. But probably 5-6 with extra for the ones who might eat more.

Re: Portion Sizes for Kids
I would think with kids that young it would feed 8. My 5 year old and his friends eat pretty small portions of stuff (if they even like it), and at age 3 and 4, their stomachs are still small.
It probably depends on what it is, too. Is your recipe the only thing you are serving? If you are serving mac and cheese, for example, and can round it out with some apple slices or something on the side, I would definitely expect it to serve more than 6 preschool aged kids if the recipe serves 4 adults (unless the portion size for adults is really tiny or meant to be a side dish and you are serving it as a main to the kids).

Portion Sizes for Kids
I think 6 to 8. All the kids in my family are picky eaters though. They only eat pasta with butter or mac n cheese and chicken fingers. id personally nix the mozzerella. I just find that sometimes the it is too stringy for kids to chew. I have had to scoop it out of childs mouth on more than one occasion.
