positive Beta!! What do I do now??
I am still in shock that I am finally going to be a mommy!!! Dr. B called last night and he was on his way back from the city so he didn't have my file in front of him. He said to call the office today. But I am confused about what happens now! After a positive beta, I know I will need more bloodwork, but do you go in for an appointment before the first sonogram? When do they tell you your due date?? Thanks everyone for all of your support!!!

Now you wait!
You'll probably get another beta 2 days after your first one and then schedule for a sono at 6 weeks. At the 6 week appointment, you'll get your due date and all of that info!

Re: positive Beta!! What do I do now??
I couldn't wait that long for them to tell me my due date so I looked it up on one of the pregnancy websites like babycenter.com or thebump.com
Who am I kidding, I've been figuring out my possible due dates for over a year now on those sites!

Re: positive Beta!! What do I do now??
I asked letsmakeababy the same question as soon as I got a positive HPT. You go for a second beta (my first beta was on Monday, I go this morning for my second) and then a third. I think by 6 weeks they can actually hear a heartbeat and start monitoring via sonograms.
Someone on the Pregnancy board reccommended babycenter.com and it's got a ton of info about all sorts of baby things. It's so funny how we spend so much time researching all things TTC and then once we're pregnant we're at a loss!

Re: positive Beta!! What do I do now??
you'll go for a repeat beta tomorrow. then if its high enough you'll go for your first sono at 6w. if its not high enough you'll go for a third two days later. either way your first sono will be around 6w. at that point you may or may not get due date, but since you did IVF you can calculate your due date from the day of conception, which would be your ER date. by 7w you should get a tentative due date. mine changed at almost every sono and ultimately my OB didnt care since it was just a matter of a few days, so i took the one i liked the most!! you'll prob see Dr. B once a week for sonos through about 10w. then you will be released to the OB and hopefully be a normal pregnant lady! congrats!

theres no good reason to do a 5w u/s. what there is to see at that time is so questionable that unless there was a really good reason i dont think he would do it. i went for a sono at like 4w6d just to look at my ovaries cause i had a return of OHSS symptoms post BFP, and he wouldnt even show me the screen. when i asked if we could see anything he said it was wayyyy too early and that everything looks like a sac on a sono that early.

i had a sono at 4w6d also, but because i have a history of ectopics. other than that, it's best to wait a little longer so that you actually see something.
what else looks like a sac that early? just curious.
