post-baby plans question
I got an e-mail from DH's aunt letting us know that our cousin's communion will be on April 7.
I am due March 6- do you think we will be able to attend? (Will I be up for it a month later?) Also, do we need a babysitter if so- I was thinking that 1 month is too early to take baby out to a party.

Re: post-baby plans question
Are you planning on BFing? If so, you may not want to be away from the baby for very long.
I wouldn't feel comfortable bringing a newborn to a party, but everyone is different. Would a family member watch the baby or would you need to find someone else? You may not feel comfortable leaving the baby with a sitter at such a young age. I'd probably play it by ear.

Re: post-baby plans question
I'm due the same day I wouldn't want to bring a one month old to a party, but that is just me. Everyone is different!!! I wouldn't agree to anything until the baby comes. Once the baby is here, you will know how you feel. I'm sure everyone will understand.

Re: post-baby plans question
I'll be taking my 1 month old and my 20 month old to temple for my cousin's bat mitzvah during the day, but my MIL is watching them during the night for the party. You'll feel fine 1 month later.

Re: post-baby plans question
I think it'll depend on how you feel. 1 month later I had gone to a family bday party w/ baby & I felt fine. I was nursing (so I needed to go & nurse while I was there).
You can always leave baby in the carrier/stroller most of the time w/ blankets or the netting over him/her.

Re: post-baby plans question
I think you'll need to play it by ear-- you don't know until you have the baby, but I think that bringing the baby to a party like that doesn't sound like a good idea-- unless as a previous poster says, the baby just stays in their stroller and no one is touching him/her, passing them around, etc.

Re: post-baby plans question
I went to a friends wedding two weeks after DS was born and I felt fine except for my engorged boobs. If you are BF and leaving the baby with a sitter definitely bring your pump just in case.

Re: post-baby plans question
I think you'll feel fine. But- you may want your parents to watch the baby, you may not be ready to bring him/her around so many people just yet.

Re: post-baby plans question
Thanks everyone- Its good to know I should probably feel fine.
I think it would be awkward to go w/o baby since I'm sure everyone would want to see him/her. Maybe I'll stay with the baby and DH can go. And great point about BF'ing- I never consider that when I think about things now!

Re: post-baby plans question
I had a c/s and felt fine one month later. I would totally take DC to a party but I would monitor who was holding him make sure you keep purell nearby, etc.
I took DS to christmas at my BILs 5 days after he was born, there were 13 adults, 7 kids including us. and it was fine!

Re: post-baby plans question
i wouldnt go. too many people will be there and they will all be oggling and breathing over the baby and prob. wanting to hold him or her. in my opinion 1 month is too young to bring a baby to a big family party.
maybe you can just go to the church to see the communion and go home after that...
