Post- Partum Anxiety
Its been a week since DD was born and even though my parents left yesterday after being here a month, I feel pretty good- during the daytime. As soon as night falls, I feel anxious and afraid. I worry the baby is ok, that she getting enough food, that she will make it through the night, etc.
I have heard of post-partum depression, but anxiety? Is this unusual? I really hope it goes away when my hormones stablize.

Re: Post- Partum Anxiety
iT WILL definately go away, you will see once you are alone with the baby, each day you will get more and more comfortable and know their needs, cries, etc. Beleive me, I went through this as well, after 4 weeks or so, I felt much, much better.

Re: Post- Partum Anxiety
Yup, its true! I have suffered from anxiety in the past but it had gotten worse since I had Julia and she's 18 months now. I feel my hormones are all messed up still, and I plan on talking to my doctor about it, hopefully there is something I can take to control it, I feel like I'm always so paranoid, and stressed out.

Re: Post- Partum Anxiety
Welcome again!
I would get really depressed and anxious as nightime would approach. I would anticipate the sleepless night, the crying (he had colic) and I would get really upset. It kind of felt like the Sunday night blues.
I am an anxious person to begin with but my anxiety has really increased when I drive with the baby.
It has gotten better.

Re: Post- Partum Anxiety
I felt like this after both of my kids. For me, it turned into full blown PPD. However, I know other people who felt this way, then it passed. I hope it works out that way for you!

Re: Post- Partum Anxiety
I think at 1 week it can still be considered normal. I had a lot of worries at first and like you it usually started at night, probably because that was when I attempted to sleep.
If it persists many more weeks I would talk to you OB, it can be part of PPD.

Re: Post- Partum Anxiety
I feel the same way & my son is 6 weeks old. I feel it all day long. I check on him constantly to make sure he is breathing. I don't know, I feel crazy. I hope it goes away soon.

Re: Post- Partum Anxiety
thanks everyone- its so nice to know I am not alone.
I was always a pretty anxious person until I met my DH. Then for some reason it went away. Now its returned and I hope doesn't lead to PPD. to all of you guys going through the same thing.

Re: Post- Partum Anxiety
It is VERY normal. If you begin crying or obessing then you want to be on the look out for PPD, but an overall feeling of new worry is very normal.

Re: Post- Partum Anxiety
the first few weeks I would get nervous in the morning when EVERYONE would be at work. Kinda thinking like no one could help me. My dd is 7 weeks and I just took her to disneyworld. So believe me it does pass.

Re: Post- Partum Anxiety
I had a rough time for a few months after Roman was born. I have noticed while I don't have post partum anymore my anxiety level has definetly gone up. I find myself constantly rushing through everything because I feel he is going to need something or do something unexpected. Definetly speak with your Dr. about your concerns.
