Post Partum Dizziness??
Ever since the birth of my daughter Maya, last October, I have been experiencing dizziness/lightheadedness on and off. Sometimes the feeling lasts all day. I have never passed out before, but have became dehydrated during pregnancy a few times and came close to fainting. I am now concerned that I will faint when I am alone with Maya and I think that anxious feeling is making my symptoms worse. I have had many tests performed but nothing has shown and the dizziness/lightheaded feeling persists. Have any of you ladies experienced post partum dizziness and if so what do you do for it? Is any of this normal for new mothers to experience?

Re: Post Partum Dizziness??
I had it....I had DD in Nov and mine JUST started going away about a month ago. I had it during the pg also, i was told it was hormonal.
I didnt do anything for it...and it has gradually started to lessen. It is a terrible feeling. Sometimes even now I will get dizzy our of nowhere. I had my thyroid levels checked they were ok.
I think you anxiety may surely be adding to it now. it's a very upsetting feeling.
Did you have it during the pg at all?

It happened a few times during my first trimester and then again a few times during the last trimester but once the pregnancy ended it was pretty constant until the spring. It stopped for a while but the dizzy/lightheaded feeling has occurred pretty often this summer. I don't think my anxiety or the heat is making it better. I also had my thryoid levels checked and all came back okay. Good to know there are other women out there who have experienced this as well!
Thank you so much for your response

You are welcome. I am sure it's hormonal...I really only started to feel better a few weeks ago. My dizziness was mostly when I woudl look up or lay down. I had it almost hte WHOLE pg. A friend of mine had it too, took mths to go away.
Just make sure you aren't anemic. I was during the recovery from my csection. But I was not anemic a few mths ago and I still had the dizziness, so I doubt in your case it's that but I just want you to make sure.
I would go to a dr if I were you if it isn't at least a bit better as time goes on.

Re: Post Partum Dizziness??
I have low iron, borderline anemia and I experience dizziness. Actually, today I was feeling it and when I took my pre-natal w/iron and an additional iron supplement, it went away.

Re: Post Partum Dizziness??
I recently had blood work done and I have been seeing a doctor about the continuing problems. He doesn't seem too concerned after having ruled other problems out (also thinks it could be hormonal) but I just wasn't sure if I was the only one who felt this. None of my "mommy friends" felt dizziness after pregnancy so I was beginning to think it was just me. I am not currently taking any vitamins. I wonder if that would help.
