postpartum bleeding- TMI & very scared
Ok, let me preface with the fact that I've already put in a call to my dr. There isn't anyone in the office until 3pm. No nurse, no dr. So I have to sit and wait- which is why I'm freaking out..
I had DD on 11-12 via csection. I bled pretty heavily in the hospital and once I was home, it was pretty light. The last week or so the bleeding has gotten progressively heavier. I thought it would just subside again. Last week it was just spotting. However, today it seems almost AF like (very thick and dark red)... I also have a lot of pressure 'down there' - just like when I'd get AF prepregnancy.
I highly doubt this is AF already- I'm only 3 wks PP to the day... did anyone else experience this? Can PP bleeding taper off and get very light (clear, light pink in color) and then change back to heavy, red bleeding?
Any information would be great. I'm a ball of nerves waiting for it to finally be 3pm..
Thanks

you might have done a little too much and are gushing again... try to relax
Have you been walking more or lifting more than usual?

Re: postpartum bleeding- TMI & very scared
My pp bleeding stopped by 2 weeks when I had dd. Then I started lifting ds again since I was feeling so much better. Well it came back with a vengeance until 6.5 weeks pp. I thought it was never going to stop but it eventually did. As pp said you prob overdid it. Try relaxing and see if it eases.

It sounds totally normal, mine came and went for about 6.5 weeks. It would be heavy, get light again, get heavy. All depended on how much running around I did. Then at 6 weeks, I bled heavily again and then that was the end of it.

Re: postpartum bleeding- TMI & very scared
sweety - i bled for a LONG time!!!!!!! i don't remember if i posted about it - but i was VERY concerned about how MUCH i was bleeding too! When i told the OB i had my follow up appointment with - his quote, 'your level of a LOT of blood and mine are likely VERY different'. He had a valid point....
take a few deep breaths - it will be fine....you may've been doing too much at once or are just having a heavy flow day. It's totally normal for it to get heavy and then light!

I *think* the heavy bleeding is okay so long as you are not running a fever with it and as long as the clots are smaller than a golf ball.
I remember panicking the same way because it would get heavy at like 3-4 weeks PP. This is what I remember being told.

This is exactly what happened. You pushed it too much. When I had DD via c-section the Dr wouldn't let me lift anything for 5 weeks and I couldn't drive for 6 to 8 weeks. It takes a long time for your incision to heal even if it looks good on the outside.

This is correct. And you dont have severe cramps.
I started bleeding heavier a couple of weeks PP and it turned out there was still big pieces of placenta left in my uterus (I gave birth vaginally) I had to go back to the OB and they had to "clean me out"
Just keep an eye on it!

My dr gave me the green light for driving at 2 wks, so I started driving this week. He never said anything about heavy lifting.. I'm going to die if I hurt myself. I never even thought about lifting DD in her carseat. Thank you for the heads up.. I didn't even realize

This is exactly what happened to me...and I posted about it and got lots of the stories that it was normal...It started to lessen again after a day or two of taking it easy...
It was scary...It started up bad..heavy, red w/ clots.

Re: postpartum bleeding- TMI & very scared
You need to be very careful considering you just had MAJOR surgery. If you "re-injure" or open the incision you will develop excess scar tissue which can be annoying and slightly painful.
I too did a lot too soon after DC #1. I developed so much scar tissue that I couldn't even lay on my stomach. When I had DC #2 the doc cleaned out all the tissues and I made sure I took it easy. I healed much better.
