Re: Pot Roast
I made one for the first time the other day in the crockpot and it was really good and ridiculously easy.
2 cans cream of mushroom ( and I hate mushrooms)
1 envelope Lipton onion soup mix
1 cup water
pot roast
Just mix all in the crockpot and cook on low all day (I think I cooked it for lilke 9 hours)
Served with buttered egg noodles.

Re: Pot Roast
I don't have a 'written recipe' but here's how I do it without the crockpot.
I take the meat and dredge it in a mixture of salt, pepper, Wondra and garlic powder. I heat about a tablespoon of Olive oil in my cast iron dutch oven and brown the meat on all sides until each side is a nice rich brown. Then I remove the meat and add about 3-4 cloves chopped garlic and 1 Large or 2 medium chopped onions and saute until just soft over medium lheat. Add some red wine (about 1/2 cup of a nice table is fine). Raise heat a hair and bring up to a simmer and add a teaspoon of beef boullion. Lower the heat and put the meat back in. I add about a 1/4 cup of beef broth next to the meat and reduce heat to low. After about 2 hours I add a couple of handfuls of carrots. About 3 hours in I add the pretty baby carrots and some pearl onions. About a half hour after I put in the carrots and pearls I take out the meat. Then I use beef broth and wondra to make a gravy from the pan drippings.
