I'm.curious too. DS has been trained #1 for a month now, dry day & night, no accidents. #2, refuses to go on potty even if I catch him right before, he ends up going in underwear. That's one mess I want to rid.

Re: Potty Training #2 ( as in #2..not child #2)
Ds1 was pee trained in 1 day (at 2m shy of being 3yo) However (we are probably the extreme here) it took nearly a year after that to conquer #2!
ETA: Just for the record though, he never went in his underwear! so our ped kept telling me he was fully trained, he was just deciding where to go) he used to wear underwear all day and when he had to poop ask for a pull up!

This is exactly what my son is doing! I told him I would be less upset if he had an accident than this because he clearly knows what he is doing! I am going to give him a little more time (maybe till I run out of pull ups) and then just take away the safety net...

DS is like this too. He was basically pee-pee trained about 6-7 months ago (actually went dry a bunch of nights too, but that stopped. ) but he still will not poop on the potty. Actually, not true, he has done it (little nuggets) a few times, and when we've told him no more pull-up, he actually got excited about how he would poop on the potty (we told him of all the things he could have as a prize,) but after a couple of days of no pooping, he cried his belly hurt and cried so hard and so sad, I had to give in. I have heard some stories of kids getting so constipated they needed medical intervention to get it out and I just can't. I don't know what we can do. People tell me he'll do it when he's ready - and since he doesn't have accidents, how bad is it really? But, it's just silly now.

Re: Potty Training #2 ( as in #2..not child #2)
DS has been potty trained only about 2.5 weeks now. He got peeing down within the first 2-3 days. Pooping was frustrating as he would poop in his underwear and not on the potty. I finally said to him "you cant poop in your underwear its going to make you sick and give you ouchies and we are going to end up at the drs office". The kid has been pooping in the potty ever since.
When all else fails lol...

DS is just over 3. we pee trained shortly after his 3rd bday in october. still no go with the poop.
although today he did sit on the potty with his pants down pretending to poop. so that maybe a start.
he is pretty scared of poop though. Just hoping it clicks soon.

We are really having a tough time with this. We are on 3 months almost with perfect pee training and poop in potty only 3 times total!

Re: Potty Training #2 ( as in #2..not child #2)
Just this week we have been putting underwear on her, even to Daycare. She did great everyday except the first. She peed in the potty but pooped in her undies. She's been asking to potty for #2 since then.

Re: Potty Training #2 ( as in #2..not child #2)
We potty trained DS weeks before his 3rd birthday. He was pee trained in 1 day but poop took until day 2. We stopped diapers completely, did undies, no pull-ups. I will say that even though he would poop on the potty, he was afraid so he wouldn't poop every day. It took about a week until he was comfortable and pooping every day on the potty. We tried not to make a big deal of it and used an extra incentive - he got a dum dum lollipop everytime he pooped on the potty (he never eats a whole lollipop so it wasn't a big deal to me). I found that talking about it too much made him more apprehensive. He actually pooped on the potty for the 1st time when I wasn't around, DH took him to the potty. GL!

With my son, I think it was total fear. He went on the potty once or twice but ten started withholding which led to horrible constipation. He would scream and cry when pooping.we did 10 weeks of miralax to get everything working right again. But over the next 8 months or so no amount of bribary would wrk (I even said I would take him to Disney) I tried jst taking away the pull ups which led to crying and withholding, I pleaded, I tried to tell him how all the big kids he admired poope on the potty, I even begged and cried (this was just before it finally stopped), it was horrible BC i jst couldn't understand it.did.
Then one day he said he would do it and did it.
