Potty Training in One Day - did anyone do this?
I'm very seriously considering this approach and I know two people who have had success with it -- did anyone here try it?

I forgot about this until now, but I remember Dr. Phil doing a show on this.
I may have to go in this direction with DD. She is almost 3 and I really just want her potty trained at this point.

Other then Our poop issues, it only took us 1 day to train noah...he has had in almost a month and a half only 1 accident at a friends house. The first day was ridiculous...hard...second day, he just got it.
I waited till the last possible moment with him b/c I just didnt have the time to do it and wanted him to be ready and get it done in a day.

Took us 1 day too. I waited til I knew DS was ready. The first day was a disaster.....tons of accidents. Day 2 was like a new kid....it clicked. And by that weekend he was wearing underwear 24/7.
I think if you train a kid too early, and they are not ready it is not going to work. If you are "training" for 4 months--something is not working. Or if you have to bring the kid to the potty every 20 min every day, you are trained, not your child.
I am a firm believer that when a kid is ready they will train quickly.
Good luck!

So, you'd consider it a successful approach, right?

If the child is ready, yes, it can be successful.

This is my problem, though. How do I KNOW if he's ready? According to this book, he's ready, but what if it backfires and he regresses? For ex., he's peed on the potty while at daycare but has never done it at home. He's never done #2 on the potty ever, but the book doesn't seem to indicate that's a problem. He can pull his pants up/down and as soon as he's pooped in his diaper he tells me he needs a diaper change and hands me a clean diaper.
I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go for it next week (after an OOT wedding) and have my MIL take younger DS for a day or two so older DS and I can 'focus' on the potty training. Maybe I'm just being a chicken?

Re: Potty Training in One Day - did anyone do this?
I didn't take that approach at all but it's a decent approach and definitley one way of doing it.
I just kept repeating it to her that she was going to be wearing big girl under wear soon. I said this everyday for about a week. The night before we tried I said it over and over again and she was in agreement. I knew she was ready and that makes all the difference. My approach would of never worked if she wasn't ready. she would've been looking at me like "yeah ok mom whatever!"
So that day she went bottomless. She peed on it with no accidents. She didn't have an accident until the next day when we were busy playing outside. It was hard for her to stop what she was doing to come inside and pee but she got the hang of it fast and after 3 days she learned to stop playing to go pee.

Re: Potty Training in One Day - did anyone do this?
We did the three day approach. Granted their form of trained and ours are VERY different it did make a huge difference. He could go peeps and poops during the day but not at night and not in the car. That took a few days to master. If he is showing signs he's ready then try it. One of two things can happen he can train or not. If he regresses give him a few weeks and try again.
