Potty Training Parents...

I'm very excited to start potty training DS this weekend! I potty at work all the time but its different when it is your own. So if you could lend some advice please. Did you use a training seat or a potty with handles to put on top of a regular toilet? Should I teach him to sit first or stand ? Thank you

How old is DS?

My DS trained in 5 days, but he was 3.

What helped us was getting a stool so he could stand to pee and also be able to get on the potty seat to go poop.

We just put him in undies and went from there, but like I said he is three, so he can tell us when he needs to go, etc.

Re: Potty Training Parents...

I put a potty seat that goes right on the toilette on, and it has worked well. He was trained for #2 right away. Pee has taken forever!!!! A couple of months ago I got a small potty to see if that would help, and in Parkers case, he sould care less, he only wants to go on the big potty.

This is his first week in underwear, and so far it has been very successful.

He does go sitting down, once he gets that, I will teach the standing up thing (actually DH will)

Re: Potty Training Parents...

We started with the little potty first as he was more comfortable--now that its been a few weeks I am trying to encourage the big seat (although he has used it when we are out and did okay) I taught him to sit first, DH can teach him how to stand.

We use a little potty in the bathroom. She is pretty good about going pee, especially when she first wakes up. We are having a little bit of a harder time with the poop.
We bought her a book about going potty that reallys seemed to give her the push to do it more consistently. I also make a really big deal when she goes telling her how proud I am, her dad is proud etc.
