Powdered formula question
I was wondering if you can make a few bottles for the night and then keep it in the refrigerator??? the container says no longer than 24 hours but ive googled it and now it seems like you shouldnt. Only the premixed formula.
I dont want to do the wrong thing.

Re: Powdered formula question
I never pre mixed the powdered formula. When Nate had night feedings, I would just bring up the bottles with the water in them already. Sometimes, I'd either bring my little compartment thing upstairs or I left a can of powder in my night stand.

Re: Powdered formula question
Every night I made 3 bottles for the next 24 hours. You should be fine to keep it in the fridge for that length of time. Its just a guideline to follow...not a science!

Re: Powdered formula question
You can definately make it ahead of time and refrigerate. However, I have found from experience that it is much quicker to have some bottles of water ready to just add the powder. If you baby likes it very warm like mine does, it won't take so long to heat up as it does a very cold one. But, I heated the bottles on the stove, so it may be different if you use the microwave. Now, I just use warm Britta faucet water and make the bottles as I go along. Nothing to heat up.

Re: Powdered formula question
I only have heard of one horror story where if the powder is fully dissolved the baby can choke. So if you leave it in the fridge for a hrs make sure you shake it well.

Re: Powdered formula question
I also bring the bottles of water upstairs at night and the pre measured powder in the container separated thingy. It's so easy that way

Re: Powdered formula question
I made a pitcher of the powdered formula each night for the following day. It was 23 oz. water to 1 cup of formula and I would pour a bottle as needed the following day. Much easier than making it bottle by bottle.

Re: Powdered formula question
We make it as we go thru the day. Joseph has pretty clear "i'm hungry" signals so I have plenty of time to get one ready.

Re: Powdered formula question
I always make it by the pitcher. Marron spits up MUCH LESS when I do it this way. When I was making a bottle at a time, there was too much foam in it and it just caused more problems for her. Even now, I make a bit more than a 24hour supply and keep it in the fridge. Never had a problem.

Re: Powdered formula question
I make 3 bottles shake them really, really well and keep them in a "cooler" with an ice pack on my night stand. When he gets up for a feeding, I go into my bathroom and fill a coffee mug with hot water and warm the bottle that way.
