Power outage from Lynbrook to Rockaways!
Ugh, what a pain... Our office was out for about 45 minutes. Anyone know what caused it?

No idea - I was at a customers house in Woodmere - just getting ready to start on my third car detail and the wife comes out to tell me there is no power.
She went next door and the neighbor told her it was a blackout.
Thank god I know the side streets in Woodmere, Lynbrook, East rockaway.....Sunrise was a mess.....I feel bad for the people sitting there.
Is there power yet?

Our office (in Lynbrook) got power back about 45 minutes ago. Maybe everything came back on at the same time?

A Statement from the Long Island Power Authority:
Beginning at approximately 1:20pm Wednesday afternoon LIPA experienced a transmission failure at a key substation in Valley Stream interrupting service to approximately 50,000 homes and businesses in Valley Stream, Cedarhurst, Inwood, Lawrence, Hewlett, Woodmere, and the Rockaway Peninsula in Queens. Service Crews were dispatched immediately and power was restored by 2:05pm. LIPA does not anticipate further service problems in these areas and is investigating the cause of the transmission failure.

One of my girlfriends lives in Manhasset and they didn't have power up until 15 minutes ago.
