PP weight/clothing size question...

....i don't now if this belongs here or fashion...but here goes....i'm 7 weeks pp and 2 sizes up from my prepregnancy size---what size would you order for a dress that needs to be worn in june? i'm leaning towards getting one size down from the size i could fit today, i just can't decide. i have to order it sooner then later, i'm a bridesmaid in the wedding and the dress is 'off the rack' so i can't risk waiting and not being able to buy it

First find out from place how much can you take in that dress specifically. Some dresses have a certain look that may not look right if you take in too much.

If its a basic dress you should be okay ordering something big and then just have fitted to you when june comes closer.

I'd go one size down if you think you wouldn't put too much pressure on yourself to lose the weight and still be able to fit into it.

It's better to have to take it in then have to let it out, especially if it's off the rack.

Re: PP weight/clothing size question...

I will be 5 mos. PP when I'm a BM in April....had to get "fitted" 10 wks pg.....

I really wanted my pre-preggo size but the women at the dress shop scared me into getting a size bigger then norm.

I have a fitting in 2 weeks, so I'll let you know if I should have gotten my regular size...

P.S.
I was back to my regular size about 4 weeks PP, and you're small so I doubt you'll have a problem, but get a size bigger, you can always take it in....

Re: PP weight/clothing size question...

I would just get the dress at your present size. I'd feel more comfortable knowing that you have that buffer, in case you don't lose the weight. If you do, then it'll be great and you can just have it taken in.

Re: PP weight/clothing size question...

It's hard to say. I'm about 14 weeks pp, and nowhere near my regular size. They say you go up a size for every 10 lbs. you gain and at about 6 weeks pp, I had 17 pounds to lose. But when I went shopping for pants after giving birth, I had to go up 3 sizes!Chat Icon A lot of women say their bodies changed after giving birth, so I'm guessing that's what happened here.

Personally, I would go bigger. You can always get it taken in, and you won't be stressed to lose the weight. If you are breastfeeding, you also have to be careful with dieting.

Re: PP weight/clothing size question...

I'd go w/ your current size...its not so much what you weigh but your body definitely changes. I'm 10 lbs still from my pre-pregnancy weight but still up a size from what I would usually be at this weight.

I would go one size up. I was one size up for a year after the babies and now I am finally back into my old sizes.

They can always take it in.

Re: PP weight/clothing size question...

I'd get it in the size you're in. The body is just never the same. I lost 70 pounds in my first 5 weeks pp, then kind of leveled off for a while, but my body is such an odd shape now around the middle.
